The sheer vastness of Namibia is awe-inspiring and magnificent. Otherworldly landscapes and desert adapted biodiversity will keep even the most experienced traveller of Africa intrigued. This trip will focus on a visit to the semi-nomadic Himba people in northern Namibia and the San Bushmen, to explore portrait photography with our top South African photo team. Hailing from South Africa and now shooting in multiple Africa locations, our team brings an incredible approach to what it means to document the wildlife around us. You will find new friends as photography diminishes walls between people. This trip will focus on supporting conservation of traditional tribal ways and wildlife. Photographing people, wildlife, landscapes and stars, we will dive into everything spectacular Namibia has to offer including Etosha, Damaaraland and Epupa Falls. We fly into the north to meet the Himba, as well as use jeeps to traverse the rugged dunes at the Skeleton coast. We are met by some of the best safari pilots and guides in Namibia who invite us into their conservancy and all that it has to offer in relationship with nature. Staying true to iconic Africa, we will stay in a few sumptuous wilderness camps strategically located to give us unparalleled access to Etosha National Wildlife Preserve. Our partners in Namibia have been generously supported by the Jolie-Pitt Foundation with proceeds directly sustaining tribal & wildlife environmental programs. In partnership with the Nyae Nyae Conservancy our trip takes us inside the world of the San Bushmen, who possess a knowledge of their environment that we can only begin to understand. Hunting with arrows tipped with the poison of beetle larvae, sourcing water from tubers and dancing long into the night with the cocoons of lunar moths around their ankles these people are in total harmony with their environment. Prepare to shift into the Hunter-Gatherer mindset and get a glimpse into a vibrant lineage steeped in ritual and tuned into the elements. Cheetah, elephant, and rhino are some of the desert adapted species we may witness in this magic that is Namibia - as life flows from both the river and dune.
